Recruitment scams.
How to recognise a fake recruiter, check it's really us, and report a scam.
Job scams are common, and scammers sometimes pretend to be real recruiters. Here's how to tell whether you're really dealing with Stormcrest.
What we will never do
- Ask you for money, a fee or a deposit, for any reason. We never charge candidates.
- Ask for your bank or credit card details, or ask you to receive or transfer money.
- Ask for identity documents up front, or through a chat app. If a specific role needs identity checks, we'll explain why, at a later stage, and how they'll be handled.
- Move the conversation to WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal or a similar app, or interview you by text message only.
- Offer you a job without speaking with you, or ask you to buy equipment or training.
How to check it's really us
- We email only from addresses ending in @stormcrest.com.au. Our main address is hello@stormcrest.com.au.
- Our website is www.stormcrest.com.au. We don't use other domains.
- If you're unsure, don't reply or click links. Start a new email to hello@stormcrest.com.au and ask us to confirm.
If you think you've been targeted
- Report it to Scamwatch at scamwatch.gov.au.
- If you've shared bank details or sent money, contact your bank straight away.
- If you've shared identity documents, IDCARE (idcare.org) can help.
- Please let us know at hello@stormcrest.com.au so we can warn others.
