02 · How we work
How we work on security hiring.
Security hiring rewards patience and precision. Our process is built around eligibility, discretion and consent.
01 · Brief
Scope the real requirement
We cover the skills, the environment, any clearance or site-access requirement, and whether you'll sponsor a clearance. If the clearance requirement narrows the pool more than the role needs, we'll say so.
02 · Search
Quiet, targeted approaches
Many security professionals aren't actively looking. We approach them directly and discreetly, with a specific role, not a mass message.
03 · Assess
Technical depth, fit and eligibility
A structured conversation about the work they've done, how they'd suit your team, and right to work, citizenship and clearance status where the role needs it.
04 · Confirm and consent
Nothing goes out without consent
We take reasonable steps to confirm clearance status via the sponsoring agency or your security officer, and every candidate consents before their CV reaches you.
03 · Clearances and eligibility
Clearances and eligibility.
General guidance only. The Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) is the authoritative source.
- Australian citizenship is generally required to hold a clearance. In limited cases, a sponsoring agency may seek a citizenship eligibility waiver.
- Clearances are sponsor-led. The employer sponsors, and must be an Australian Government agency or a Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) member at the right level, for a genuine role that needs it.
- Stormcrest does not sponsor clearances and is not a DISP member.
- Before we introduce a candidate for a role that needs a clearance, we take reasonable steps to confirm their clearance status, via the sponsoring agency or your security officer, who gives final confirmation.
- We collect clearance status privately, never show it publicly, and never request classified material or vetting paperwork.

04 · OT and critical infrastructure
OT and critical infrastructure security.
Securing operational technology is different from securing corporate IT. Availability and safety come first, change windows are tight, and the people who do it well understand both control systems and security.
We recruit OT/ICS security engineers, industrial network specialists and critical infrastructure risk advisers for energy, water, transport and industry. The founder's background includes delivering OT and energy programs, so we understand the environments these roles work in.
05 · Fees
The same published fees.
Cyber security roles use our standard permanent terms: 22% retained (or 25% contingent, on request) of first-year base salary (excluding super), plus GST, with a $12,000 minimum, invoiced in thirds for retained searches, with a 12-week sliding-scale rebate (75% / 50% / 25%). There is no replacement guarantee.

ProtectSMB is a separate company. Stormcrest offers it as a reseller and may earn a commission. ProtectSMB and its features are provided by ProtectSMB. Prices are theirs and may change, so check current pricing on their site.
